Fees

The fee calculator below is designed to provide you with some price examples (in rounded figures) for selected typical routes for obtaining a European patent via the PCT system. Simply select the country of origin, the number of claims and number of pages.

It should be noted that the calculator is intended for giving a simplified overview, only. It is necessary to consult the detailed price lists and provisions on time limits etc. in each individual case. 

NB: The fee calculator was last updated 1. January 2013. Some of the prices listed here, particularly those in Icelandic ISK, are unfortunately not completely accurate.

Explanations:

• “First filing” refers to the national filing fee and national claims fee (or various PCT fees if first filing is a PCT application)
• “ITS” means International Type Search, which is optional
• “PCT fees” means the Transmittal fee, International filing fee, International page fee and International search fee.
• “EPO fees” means the fees charged by EPO in the EP/PCT regional phase, namely filing fee, search fee, claims fee and examination fee

Additionally the following assumptions have been made:

• The application is filed in paper form
• Designation fees at EPO are not included
• All applicable refunds in search fees are included.
• Fees at the EPO are charged in EUR. They have been converted into DKK, NOK and ISK in order to make it possible to establish total sums and rounded off.
