Nordic Patent Institute is in operation

The Nordic Patent Institute was established during the course of 2007 and was finally ready for launch on January 1st 2008. Now the new PCT authority has been in operation for almost six months.

Up to this date, the Nordic Patent Institute has been appointed as International Search Authority in approximately fifty PCT applications. Most of these originate from Norway while about one quarter of them are Danish.

"This number of applications may seem modest but it actually meets our expectations. We expect that the use of the Nordic Patent Institute will increase as word of the new authority gets out and customers find that our claims of quality and speed are confirmed in practice," says Director Niels Ravn.
