New Director General in Norway – New Board member at Nordic Patent Institute

   

Mr Per A. Foss - General of the Norwegian Industrial Property Office (NIPO)  

On 1 June 2012 Mr Per A. Foss took over the position as Director General of the Norwegian Industrial Property Office (NIPO) and as such he also joined the Board of Nordic Patent Institute.

Per has a solid academic background and extensive business experience within the Norwegian industry. He holds a Ph.D. in bio-organic chemistry from NTNU in Trondheim, and a postdoc from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

Before joining NIPO, Per was CEO of HUNT Biosciencies AS. He also worked for Nycomed - now GE Healthcare - as a researcher and research manager, then with several roles in research management, business development and licensing. Later he also led Birkeland Innovation. Per has also held several board positions. He has served on the Board for Science Division of the Norwegian Research Council for 8 years.

The Nordic Patent Institute management would like to welcome Per on board. We look forward to working with him to develop even further the good cooperation between the Institute and its member states. At the same time we would like to thank Toril Foss, the outgoing acting Director General, for all her good work for the Institute this past year.
