Price examples
The following figures illustrate some price examples (in rounded figures) for selected typical routes for obtaining a European patent via the PCT system.
The following assumptions have been made:
- The application has less than 30 pages, less than 10 claims, and contains no sequence listings
- The application is filed in paper form
- Designation fees at EPO are not included
- All applicable refunds in search fees are included.
- Certain fees at the EPO are charged in EURO. They have been converted into DKK, NOK and ISK in order to make it possible to establish total sums.
It should be noted that the presentation is only intended as a simplified overview. It is necessary to consult the detailed price lists and provisions on time limits etc in each individual case.

NB: Please note that since most International banking institutions discontinued the publication of an exchange rate for the ISK following the decision of the Government of Iceland to temporarily restrict or stop certain types of cross-border capital movements and foreign exchange transactions, the exact exchange rate of the ISK is difficult to determine. The exchange rate WIPO has used for equivalent amounts of the PCT search fee has been used for reference in the aforementioned scenarios. For more information see the website of The Central Bank of Iceland www.sedlabanki.is.
