Filing of PCT applications at Nordic Patent Institute

Who can file?
Nordic Patent Institute may be appointed as an International Searching Authority (ISA) or an International Preliminary Examining Authority (IPEA) under the PCT system by applicants who are nationals or residents of Denmark, Iceland or Norway. Foreign applicants (companies) may use the Institute as a PCT Authority via a branch or division domiciled in any of the three countries.
The two-letter code for using Nordic Patent Institute is XN.
Where to file?
Requests for Nordic Patent Institute to act as an ISA shall be filed at the Receiving Office at the Danish, Icelandic or Norwegian Patent Offices, or at the International Bureau of WIPO. (The Danish, Icelandic and Norwegian Offices will act as Receiving Office only for their respective nationals or residents. Furthermore, applicants filing at one of the three national Receiving Offices must use the office in the country of which they are a national or resident.)
Demands for Nordic Patent Insitute to act as an IPEA shall be filed directly at the Institute at the address in Taastrup, Denmark.

How to file?
Requests must be made on a printed form or be presented as a computer printout, unless the Receiving Office accepts electronic filing. Forms are available from the Receiving Offices. Special programs for electronic filing (PCT-EASY and PCT-SAFE) are available from WIPO. The European Patent Office has also developed a program (EOLF) which may be used.
